Objective
The student can describe the treatment practices associated with the oral health care needs of a patient undergoing orthodontic therapy describe the tasks of a dental hygienist in orthodontic treatment identify the most common abnormalities in occlusal development promote and maintain the oral health of a customer undergoing orthodontic therapy consult with orthodontists and refer a customer for further examinations and treatment identify the masticatory system as a whole, along with its function and abnormalities identify the system that consists of the temporomandibular joint, movements of the lower jaw and the teeth identify the epidemiology, aetiology and diagnostics of malocclusions describe the principles of examining a customer with a problem associated with occlusal physiology describe the most common physiological occlusal treatments and methods for relaxing the masticatory muscles
