Objective
Students are aware of the impact of pre-analytical factors on the results of laboratory examinations when guiding clients for specimen collection, when collecting specimen and carrying out POC tests. Students know how to collect and handle different clinical specimen carefully and safely and know the proper measures for their storage and transport. Students are able to answer for the safety and well-being of the client during the specimen collection. Students are familiar with multi-cultural issues in the client work of social services and health care. They know how to act according to the guidelines, values and ethical principles of clinical laboratory work, and are able to make decisions which are ethically sound. Students know how to act in line with the principles of good service in client work and in collaboration with other professional groups. They are aware of the quality management procedures of the laboratory.The student can collect clinical specimens and knows the appropriate equipment for specimen collection. The student knows the right procedure for specimen handling and storing.Students are familiar with high quality and safe methods of collecting and handling of different clinical specimens. Students know methods of point of care testing and know how to examine a urine sample. Students are familiar with the principles of client-centred service in serving internal and external customers in the laboratory.
