Programme description

Studying financial management opens up a lot of diverse career opportunities. Students will gain advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of accounting and finance, master computational and calculation skills.

The students’ professional development is based on extensive business studies and financial management studies. Financial management studies consist of e.g. financial accounting, management accounting, auditing and taxation. The Bachelors of Business Administration graduated from the degree programme master the specific issues in a manner which makes them competent for work in the typical work tasks in their field, and gives them readiness to develop the professional practices in their field both as members of work communities and independently.

At the Turku University of Applied Sciences , the BBA degree in business has a total scope of 210 ects and consists of basic studies, professional studies, free choice studies (30 ects), practical training (30 ects) and Bachelor's thesis (20 ects). In the basic studies the student becomes familiar with the fundamentals in business operations, entrepreneurship and general regularities in business. Professional studies consist of financial management studies.

Competence objectives

Koulutus antaa työmarkkinoilla tarvittavat perustiedot ja -taidot liiketoimintaosaamisesta. Koulutuksen tavoitteena on antaa valmiuksia laaja-alaiseen ammatillisen osaamisen kehittämiseen sekä työelämässä tarvittaviin taitoihin. Tavoitteena on, että valmistuneella tradenomilla on hyvät edellytykset alan kehityksen seuraamiseen.

Taloushallinnon syventävät opinnot antavat valmiuksia monipuolisiin taloushallinnon tehtäviin yrityksissä, yhteisöissä ja julkisella sektorilla. Keskeisiä aihealueita ovat hyvä kirjanpitotapa, yrityksen verotus ja rahoitus, palkkahallinto sekä sisäisen laskentatoimen erilaiset laskentatilanteet. Opinnot on suunniteltu siten, että ne tukevat myös KLT-tutkinnon suorittamista. (not translated)

Pedagogic approaches

Studying in the Business degree programme follows the principles of innovation pedagogy. In this thinking, learning constitutes students’ active and social activities where students take responsibility for their learning and actively strives towards reaching the learning goals.

The student is tutored during the whole duration of his/her studies (creation of personal study plan, choice of study units, different problems and life situations affecting the studying process).

Assessment

Studies are evaluated on the basis of oral and written examinations, exercises and other performances. The grading scale is excellent (5), good (4 and 3), satisfactory (2 and 1), passed and failed.

The programme uses a variety of evaluation methods to review the quality of the programme. The programme is developed together with companies. A variety of methods is used to find out students’ views: eg. module feedback, annual feedback questionnaires and conversations with student representatives.
