In the joint course student will have individual documentary project and will do a Zine as outcome.

Objective

The students will be able to
• apply the techniques of image editing and develop and expand their methodologies independently.
• apply the basic concepts of graphic design in their own work
• create and manage documents combining images and text.
• apply the principles of the CMYK colour management.
• apply the basic concepts of printing techniques and take the limitations of printing technologies into account in their own work.

Content

On this course, the students will develop and discuss their own expression through practical work. The students will also apply advanced image processing and the basics of graphic design and printing technology. During the course, the students will learn about the requirements of the printing industry in term of image production and practise accurate digital printing. They will also learn about different printing materials and their features.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Kurssin lopuksi käydään yhteinen arviointikeskustelu, jonka jälkeen opiskelija reflektoi oppimaansa kirjallisesti. Arvioinnin kohteena on opiskelijan oma kehitys sekä teoreettisten ja käytännöllisten prosessien kehittäminen, ei taiteellinen lopputulos.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Opiskelija
• osaa soveltaa annettuja ohjeita omaan työskentelyynsä
• osaa käyttää keskeisiä ammattikäsitteitä ja -välineitä ja soveltaa niitä omaan ilmaisuunsa
• osallistuu dialogisesti yhteisön vuorovaikutustilanteisiin.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Edellisten lisäksi opiskelija
• osaa suunnitella omaa työskentelyään ja tunnistaa työskentelyprosessinsa vaiheet
• osaa arvioida ja mitoittaa opiskelun/työn valmistamisen vaatiman ajan
• osoittaa tuntevansa dokumentaarisen valokuvauksen tietoperustan
• työskentelee ja toimii eettisten ja ekologisten periaatteiden mukaisesti
• kykenee kehittämään ja syventämään persoonallista ilmaisuaan
• osaa sijoittaa työskentelynsä laajempiin yhteyksiin ja nykytaiteen kentälle

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Edellisten lisäksi opiskelija
• osoittaa hallitsevansa valitsemiensa materiaalien, työskentelymetodien ja sisältöjen kriittisen limittymisen nykytaiteen diskursseihin
• osaa analysoida ja kehittää työskentelyprosessinsa vaiheita
• osaa analysoida kriittisesti erilaisia ratkaisumalleja
