Content scheduling

The course starts with one full day Kick-off meeting. After that there will be five workshops every other wednesday, in the afternoons. The meetings take place in SparkUp (tykistökatu 4). In between the meetings, students will work with their own team.

Objective

Student understands the meaning of innovation and gets the possibility to take part in an innovation process. The students will also learn how to test an idea of innovation on a target group. Studying in Let's Innovate course is multidisciplinary team work with students from different universities. Attending to the course will improve student’s skills in identifying, assessing and testing new product or service innovation ideas. The course also trains team working, project management and communication skills. The key point is in innovating and testing of a possible commercial idea.

Pedagogic approaches and sustainable development

You will be working in a 4-5 person team, creating a concept for a service or a product. You will be guided through different Innovation and Service Design methods. Methods are put into practice by testing the ideas with target groups. At the end of the course the teams will present their final product/service to their chosen target group.
The course consist of a 12h starting day plus five mutual meetings and teamwork. During the autumn you will work with your team in developing your idea. There will be exchange students and Finnish students in each team.

Student workload

5 ects = 135 h student´s work, app. 10 h / week

Evaluation methods and criteria

1 - 5 (1 = poor, 3 = good, 5 = excellent)
Evaluation criteria: Team work, Reports and presentations in time, Active Participation, Portfolio
