Objective
PARTURIENT MIDWIFERY 5 CR SYKÄObjectives:The student shall be able to- plan, implement, document and evaluate the basic and obstetric care of a parturient woman during all the stages of parturition- guide, advise and treat parturient women and their families in special issues relating to parturition and midwifery- know the course of a normal parturition, the parturition mechanism and stages- master the monitoring of the parturient woman and foetus and the monitoring and intervention methods of the different stages of parturition- make decisions independently as the basis of planning parturition care- independently master normal parturition care in midwifery- perform anaesthesia and episiotomy and close a wound- support early interaction between the neonatal infant and parents- assess the mother's need for pain relief during all stages of parturition- plan and implement individual pain relief in parturition independently and in connection with medical procedures in co-operation with the obstetrician- master the methods of health monitoring and treatment of a neonatal infant- know the causes, symptoms and treatment of pathological pregnancy and parturition and act appropriately in the situation.- know the essential and current pharmacology in his or her field relating to the care of pregnancy, parturition and puerperal period- read a CTG curve- assist the parturient woman in shoulder dystocia situation- master parturient analgesics for his or her part- work in co-operation with other experts in the treatment of abnormal parturition
