Kirurginen hoitotyö KIHO (2op)
Surgical Nursing (1 cr)
Kliininen harjoittelu 1 op
Kirurgia ja farmakologia 1 op KIFA
• Kirurgisen potilaan hoitopolut; elektiivinen ja päivystyspotilas
• Pre- intra- ja postoperatiivinen hoitotyö
• Yleisimmät kirurgista hoitoa vaativat sairaudet, niiden hoitotyö ja kuntoutus
• Kirurgisen potilaan hoidossa käytettävät auttamismenetelmät
o Yksilöllinen potilaan ohjaus ja omaisten ohjaus
o Akuutin kivun hoito ja yleisimmät kipulääkkeet
o Erilaisten kirurgisten haavojen hoito ja avanteen hoito
o Hoidon dokumentointi ja raportointi

Objective

SURGICAL PATIENT NURSING 5 ECTS KIHO & KIHOP
The study unit includes 1 ECTS of studies arranged in English

Objectives: Students will
• Understand the treatment path for surgical patients
• Become familiar with the overall treatment of a surgical patient and its various foundations, special features and ethical requirements regarding patients representing different demographic groups
• Become proficient in aseptic techniques and systematic work
• Learn to promote and ensure occupational and patient safety in the treatment of surgical patients
• Learn to plan, administer, monitor and evaluate safe and effective medication and fluid therapy for surgical patients
• Become familiar with nursing related to most common surgical procedures and the related examination and treatment methods
• Practise various assistance methods used in surgical nursing
• Know how to plan, carry out and assess the guidance and training of surgical patients in cooperation with other experts by applying a customer or group-oriented approach
• Know how to support the self-care of a surgical patient in postoperative treatment in a hospital environment and at home
• Know how to ensure the exchange of updated information during the different treatment phases of surgical patients
• Understand the meaning of life-long learning in the nursing of surgical patients
• Develop their personal professional skills

o Musculoskeletal diseases
o Gastrointestinal surgical diseases
o Urologic diseases
o Pulmonary, heart and vascular diseases
• Assistance methods used in the treatment of surgical patients
o Personal counselling for patients and family members
o Treatment of acute pain and the most common analgesics
o Care of various surgical wounds and ostomies
o Documentation of treatment
o Fluid therapy and pharmacotherapy plan, calculation of fluid balance
o Blood transfusion (elective surgical patient)

Oppimistehtävät ja opiskelijan työn mitoitus:
5 op – opiskelijan työ = 135h
Kirjoittamiseen varataan aikaa vähintään tunti 120 sanaa kohti. Lukemiseen 15 tuntia/100 sivua (keskivaikea)

Evaluation methods and criteria

Osaamista arvioidaan mm. tehtävien suorittaminen, aktiivisuus tapaamisissa, tentit, simulaatiot, harjoittelut.
Arviointia tapahtuu koko kurssin ajan.

Hyvin tehdyillä, ajoissa palautetuilla tehtävillä on mahdollisuus korottaa arvosanaa.
Myöhässä palautetut ja puutteellisesti tehdyt tehtävät voivat laskea arvosanaa.
