Objective
After completing the course, the student will be able to design and dimension typical structural component assemblies and connections (hinge/rigid connection) from foundations to roof, considering the structural bracing. Additionally, the student will have expertise in the design of welded beams and columns.
Content
-Welded structures
-Cross-section class 4
-Steel trusses (bars and connections)
-Bracing methods and structural analysis for steel frames
-Resistance for point loads
-Analysis, modeling, and classification of connections
-Beam-to-beam connection (hinged)
-Column-to-beam connection (hinged and rigid)
-Column base connection (base plate, anchor bolts)
-Application of plastic hinges in PLL1 bars
-Limit state design for serviceability
