Objective

Objectives
• Students will learn how to describe the underlying mechanisms, symptoms, examinations and medical treatment of common internal diseases
• Students will know the most common internal diseases and the treatment path of internal medicine patients
• Students will be able to identify internal medicine patients’ needs for treatment, to plan, perform and assess the treatment and to make the required evidence-based conclusions
• Students will know how to perform the common treatment and nursing methods applied in the care of an internal medicine patient by observing patient safety
• Students will understand the importance and role of a nurse in the provision of guidance and support related to self-care
• Students will know how to perform the methods required in the provision of guidance and instructions related to self-care

Content

Contents
• Treatment paths of internal medicine patients, acute and long-term patient, non-medical and medical therapy as well as monitoring the patient and assessment of patient response in acute and long-term care
o Cardiovascular diseases
o Respiratory disorders
o Endocrine disorders (islets of Langerhans, kidneys, adrenal gland, thyroid, parathyroid)
o Rheumatoid arthritis
o Kidney and liver diseases
o Neurological diseases: AIS, MS, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy
• Advanced resuscitation
• How to use the ABCDE, NEWS and ISBAR tools
• Internal medicine patient counselling, self-care support and commitment to treatment
