Tavoitteet

Opiskelija osaa kuvata bioprosessien erityispiirteet, laitteet, laitteistot ja tekniikat. Opiskelija osaa kuvata monipuolisesti teollisesti ja kestävän kehityksen kannalta tärkeitä tuotteita ja valmistusprosesseja. Opiskelija osaa kuvata tärkeimmät analyysimenetelmät, joita käytetään biomateriaalien karakterisoinnissa, geenitekniikassa, diagnostiikassa ja bioprosesseissa.

The course will include online meetings, laboratory working and independent working (the schedule is presented in ItsLearning platform)

Sisällön jaksotus

This course include theoretical part (3 CR) and laboratory part (2 CR).

Content of this course:

-The theoretical background and main principle of upstream and downstream processes
-The related equipments and techniques of bioprocesses
-Focus will be on biopharmaceuticals and proteins for diagnostics

-Green Fluorecent Protein will be produced, purified and assayed in laboratory works (laboratory part)

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

Final grade is based on the theoretical part (60%) and laboratory part (40%).

Grading of theoretical part:

USP pair assignment: 0-2 points
DSP pair assignment: 0-2 points
Protein purification simulation (individual assignment): 0-2 points
Reflective report (individual assignment): 0-5 points

All assignments need to be returned in time and approved.
The grading is based on teacher assessment and / or peer review. A more detailed description is given in ItsLearning platform.
Points are translated to number (F - 5)

Grading of laboratory part is based on laboratory work, results and report.

The learning assignments have been completed in accordance with the instructions, but the content is limited in scope.
Laboratory working:
Laboratory report is done in accordance with instructions.

The student has learned the main content of the course and source material and has been able to utilize these in the preparation of learning assignment. The assignments have been completed in accordance with the instructions and the returned documents are good in content and scope.

The student has excellently learned the content of the course and the source material and has been able to utilize these effectively in learning assignments. The assignments have been completed in accordance with the instructions and the returned documents are excellent in content and scope.
They show a deep familiarity with the source materials as well as the ability to combine theory with practice.

The laboratory report is excellent in content.
