- Acting as a group trustee
- Observing defects/shortcomings/faults in your study group and intervening to those
- Supporting your study group
- Regular contact to your tutor teacher (informing about the situation of your study group)
Evaluation: Passed/Failed
Course is for the first-year students. At the first semester students select/vote VIP-students (= group trustee persons) from their study group.
All contact hours of the course are mandatory.
SPRING 2022
Course starts on week 7 with info/orientation to the course (on 8.2. cl. 15.00-16.30)

17.2. cl. 15-17 Group dynamics (university chaplain Atte Airaksinen)
4.3 cl. 14-16 Self-knowledge, recognition and identification of concerns and how to raise concerns (study psychologist Otto Waris)
10.3 cl. 15-17 Everyday mental health skills (study psychologist Satu Salmi)

Objective
The student
- can perform activities supporting the well-being of learning and working and acts as the trustee of his/her group.
- is able to observe and support smooth learning as part of the overall well-being of the institution.
- can use his/her collaboration skills in promoting the communal spirit of the group.
- is able to identify a variety of difficulties faced by single students and the entire student group and knows who to turn to in difficult situations.
Content
- Group trustee activities
- Observing and intervening difficulties among the student group and supporting other fellow students
- Regular contact with the tutor teacher and distribution of essential information

- Participation to contact hours and monthly meetings with student counsellor and tutor teacher

- working in own group as a group trustee

Pedagogic approaches and sustainable development
Online peer to peer work.
Student is in active role in her/his own group, participates to contact hours and monthly meetings with study counsellor and tutor teacher. Written assignments needs to be done to get approval of this course.
Student workload
3 cr = 81 hours of student´s work
Contact hours (education, meetings with study counsellor and tutor teacher, about 35 hours.
Assignments, about 8 hours.
Acting as VIP-student, about 38 hours.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Student has to be in active role in her/his own group, participate to contact hours and monthly meetings with study counsellor and tutor teacher. Written assignments needs to be done to get approval of this course (plan during spring and report during autumn semester).
