Objective

Learning objective is to comprehend the key competence areas in residential child care work. Each learning module has own detailed learning objectives.

Content

ERCCI consists of six (6) learning modules, which are interlinked and capture competencies, which are essential to high quality professional residential child care work. ERCCI course is designed as a self-learning course for students who are already engaged in RCC and for students interested in RCC or child welfare practice more generally. The course offers a range of activities – such as short lectures, case studies, video interviews, readings and reflection exercises – that students can go through at their own pace.

2. Promoting participation in education and care
3. Transforming crises and conflicts into opportunities
4. Involving the family of origin
5. Evaluating RCC’s quality and outcomes
6. Developing reflexivity and calibration

The various activities in each of the Learning Modules are designed to stimulate your thinking on RCC, to reflect on challenges in RCC work and your own attitude, and to impart knowledge and encourage skill development in multiple areas. Each module offers you a range of activities – from short lectures, case studies, video interviews, readings, and reflection exercises – that you can go through at your own pace.

ERCCI course is designed as a self-learning course for students who are already engaged in residential child care and for students interested in working in children's home or child protection practice more generally.The various activities in each of the Learning Modules are designed to stimulate your thinking on child protection, to reflect on challenges in working with children and youth with special needs and your own attitude, and to impart knowledge and encourage your skill development in multiple areas.

Each learning modules offers a range of activities – such as short lectures, case studies, video interviews, readings and reflection exercises – that learners can go through at their own pace.

You can choose to study modules 1-3 or/and modules 4-6. Both package cover 3 study credits.

After doing the learning activities in each learning module in ITSplatform the final assignment is to fill the evaluation form.

Further information

The three-year project (2018–2021) involves experts and students from five universities in five European countries to create this ERCCI study course. We involved professionals and practitioners involved in RCC across five countries who were willing to share their experiences, be interviewed and provide feedback on this course.
