Objective

The student

- can perform activities supporting the well-being of learning and working and acts as the trustee of his/her group.
- is able to observe and support smooth learning as part of the overall well-being of the institution.
- can use his/her collaboration skills in promoting the communal spirit of the group.
- is able to identify a variety of difficulties faced by single students and the entire student group and knows who to turn to in difficult situations.

Content

- Group trustee activities
- Observing and intervening difficulties among the student group and supporting other fellow students
- Regular contact with the tutor teacher and distribution of essential information

Teaching methods

Supervised and individual work in different groups. Written assignments individually and in groups.
Student participates to contact hours and meetings (according to a separate agreement) with other VIP-students, student counsellor, tutor teacher and peer tutors
In addition, student plans and implements group activities and writes assignments.
Student acts in VIP-student role (acts as trustee person and contact person in own group).

International connections

Supervision and guidance and peer work.
Peer to peer work and supervision takes place in individual and group meetings both in person and online.
Student is in active role in her/his own group, participates to contact hours and meetings with study counsellor, tutor teacher and peer students.
Written assignments and activities need to be done to get approval of this course.

Student workload

3 cr = 81 hours of student´s work (more spesified descrition below)

Contact hours (education, meetings with study counsellor and tutor teacher, about 35 hours.
Assignments, about 8 hours.
Acting as VIP-student in own student group, about 38 hours.

Content
- Acting as a group trustee
- Observing defects/shortcomings/faults in your study group and intervening to those
- Supporting your study group
- Regular contact to your tutor teacher (informing about the situation of your study group)
Evaluation: Passed/Failed

Course is for the first-year students. At the first semester students select/vote VIP-students (= group trustee persons) from their study group.
All contact hours of the course are mandatory.

AUTUMN 2022
Three similar educational sessions in October (student participates only one).

SPRING 2023
Places and programs will become more accurate later, but here some preliminary plans:

Assessment methods and criteria

Course will be evaluated with scale passed/failed.

Student has to be in active role in her/his own group, participate to contact hours and meetings with study counsellor, tutor teacher and peer tutors.
Activities and written assignments need to be done to get approval of this course.
The student must keep track of working hours and report all hours with final report in spring 2023.
