Objective
Students will
• Know how to determine the mental health/substance abuse care needs of patients, in order to plan and administer care, and to evaluate its effectiveness
• Learn to interact with and help customers/patients of different ages, as well as their family members
• Become familiar with the methods used in mental health and substance abuse nursing, the nurse-patient relationship and the work pair approach, as well as learn to use supervision of work as a way to support professional development.
• Learn to analyse how their own values and attitudes influence their interaction with customers/patients of different ages and their professional interaction
• Understand the ethics of nursing and base their actions on current knowledge
• Increase their pharmacotherapy competence in mental health and substance abuse nursing
• Learn to document information about the treatment of mental health and substance abuse patients

• How to plan, perform and assess evidence-based mental health and substance abuse care and counselling and how to document the process
• Practising common methods of mental health and substance abuse care according to the learning environment and the needs of the patients/customers
• Practising the clinical examination of a patient and care-related, empowering interaction with patients/customers
• Different methods used in mental health and substance abuse nursing, the nurse-patient relationship and supervision of work
• The mental health and substance abuse care service system
• More profound skills in pharmacotherapy and mental health
