Sisällön jaksotus
The course will start on week 38 includes 9 contact sessions.
The course consists of the following topics:
- Cultural factors and business practices affecting international business operations
- Decision to internationalize, opportunities and risks
- Market selection
- Market entry strategies
- Product and price strategy

After completing the course the student
- can evaluate market opportunities for international business
- is able to make a business plan or proposal for internationalizing a business.

Opetusmenetelmät
Independent reading and preparations for the class, working at the class in smaller groups, brief introductions to the topic and discussions, case studies, visitors.
BYOD for each session as the course books & internet access are needed to work in groups.

The course includes graded assignments and assignments which need to be completed.

The assessment is based on the completion of the given tasks, attendance and active participation in contact sessions and group work.
All the given assignments need to be completed with acceptable level to be able to pass the course.
The course includes assignments which will not be graded separately, but will be taken into account in the final grade.
Late returns affect grading:
If the graded task (0-5) is returned late, the grade will be reduced by 1.
If the graded task (0-2) is returned late, the grade will be 0 (still needs to be completed with acceptable level to pass the course).

The student has basic understanding of international business theories and cross-cultural business practices and is able to apply the key concepts in case studies and plans.
All assignments are returned with acceptable level.

The student has a good understanding of international business theories and business practices and applies them when analysing or creating a plan or a proposal for internationalizing a business.
All assignments are returned according to the instructions and on time. The outputs show ability to search for information and to focus on key points. Active contribution to group functioning and willingness to share own ideas and experiences with the others.

The student has an excellent understanding of international business theories and business practices and applies them when analysing or creating a plan or a proposal for internationalizing a business. The analysis or a plan includes justified arguments and suggestions.
All assignments are returned according to the instructions and on time. The outputs show ability to search for information from several sources, evidence of insight and capacity for argumentation. Drives others to act, takes responsibility and develops own and group activities.
