Tavoitteet

Opiskelija
• Tietää ikääntyneen hoitotyön eettiset arvot ja periaatteet ja arvostaa vanhuutta elämänvaiheena
• Tietää ja tunnistaa ikääntymiseen liittyvät muutokset
• Tietää ja osaa käyttää iäkkään ihmisen terveyden, toimintakyvyn sekä voimavarojen arvioinnin ja niiden ylläpitämiseen käytettäviä hoitotyön menetelmiä
• Tietää tavallisimmat muistisairaudet, niiden hoito- ja palveluketjun
• Tuntee ravitsemuksen merkityksen iäkkään ihmisen hoidossa ja osaa suunnitella, toteuttaa ja arvioida ikääntyneiden ravitsemusta eri tilanteissa yhteistyössä monialaisen asiantuntijaverkoston kanssa
• Osaa suunnitella, toteuttaa ja arvioida ikääntyneiden turvallista ja vaikuttavaa lääkehoitoa
• Osaa tukea ja ohjata perhettä ja läheisiä ikääntyvän hoidossa
• Tietää ja tunnistaa keskeisimmät kehitysvammat ja vammautumisesta aiheutuvat muutokset sekä hoitotyön auttamismenetelmät

• Ikääntyneen hoito, geriatria ja farmakologia
• Ikääntymiseen liittyvät muutokset
• Ikääntyneen toimintakyvyn heikkenemistä ennakoivat riskitekijät
• Ikääntyneen toimintakyvyn ja voimavarojen arviointi sekä tukeminen eri ympäristöissä
• Ikääntyneen ravitsemus, sen toteuttaminen ja ohjaus eri tilanteissa
• Geroteknologia
• Muistisairaudet ja muistisairaan hoitotyö
• Ikääntyneiden hoitoon liittyvä lainsäädäntö ja ikääntyneiden palvelut: kotihoito ja muut kotiin vietävät palvelut
• Ikääntyneen lääkehoidon turvallinen ja vaikuttava toteuttaminen
• Ikääntyneen ihmisen perheen ja läheisten osallisuuden tukeminen hoidossa

Objectives

Students will
• Understand the ethical values and principles of gerontological nursing and respect old age as a stage of life
• Students will acknowledge and know how to identify any changes related to old age
• Students will acknowledge and know how to use the methods of nursing related to assessing and maintaining the health, functional capacity and resources of the elderly
• Students will become familiar with common memory disorders and the related treatment and service chains
• Understand the importance of nutrition in the treatment of the elderly and know how to plan, perform and assess the nutrition of the elderly in different circumstances in cooperation with a network of multidisciplinary experts
• Students will know how to plan, administer and assess safe and effective pharmacotherapy for the elderly
• Know how to support and guide family members in the treatment of elderly patients
• Acknowledge and be able to identify common changes caused by development disorders and disability and know the related key methods of nursing

• Treatment of the elderly, geriatrics and pharmacology
• Changes related to old age
• Risk factors that indicate declining functional capacity of elderly patients
• Assessment of the functional capacity and resources of the elderly and provision of support in different environments
• Nutrition of the elderly and how to ensure proper nutrition and provide related instructions in different circumstances
• Gerontechnology
• Memory disorders and nursing of patients with memory disorders
• Legislation concerning the treatment of the elderly and the services required by the elderly: home care and other services provided at the homes of the elderly
• Safe and effective administration of pharmacotherapy for the elderly
• Supporting the involvement of family members in geriatric care
