Objective

This course introduces some of the fundamental analytic tools, approaches and techniques essential for designing and operating logistics systems and integrated supply chains. These issues are studied from both perspectives: managing the chain or being a partner in the chain. The perspective is of management, with an emphasis on tools and approaches aiming at improving overall logistics performance. While using models to help analyse supply chain situations, the industry cases will be used to provide illustrations of the concepts in practice.After completing this course the student: has an comprehensive undestanding of the notion of performance is able to use analytic models and approaches for solving logistics and supply chain problems is able to use the techniques for measuring and managing supply chain

Core contents: emerging trends in logistics elements of the logistics systems and how to tie them together value of supply chains and the models and tools to manage them quality management through the whole supply chain forming of alliances and networks to streamline the flow of materials logistics managerial issues and logistics functions
