Content scheduling

Student knows Basic principles of animation, importance of rythm and timing.
He/she knows how to apply rules of animation to objects, animals and humans.
He/she knows how to use digital Toonboom software.

The course takes place between the 22th of November 2022 and the 30th of March 2023.

Objective

After completing the course, the student is able to
- animate 2D-characters
- name the principles of animation
- apply principles of animation to the movements of characters
- use 2D-animation programs

Content

Students learn the basic principles of drawn animation by doing different exercises. Exercises begin with inanimate objects and their movements and move to living objects, animals and humans. During the course, the 2D program TVPaint and its use in animation and storyboard are studied.

Materials

Richard Williams: The animator's survival kit: [a manual of methods, principles and formulas for classical, computer, games, stop motion and internet animators] with the DVD box.

Teaching methods

During study period student practise animation skills by doing exercises with pen and paper. He/she also learns to use digital Toonboom software.

International connections

Contact teaching and independent work. Student does independent work with given exercises. During contact period teacher is giving feedback and shows how to make animation work better.
