Objective
The student:
• Knows the principles guiding the nursing of children, as well as the status and rights of a child
• Is familiar with the development of a healthy child
• Can monitor and promote growth and development, and identify deviations
• Can support parenting, and identify resources and risk factors
• Can guide children and families, as well as utilise health technology
• Can act in a manner that promotes patient safety
• Can search for and apply evidence-based information
• Can define and record the nursing needs of a child patient, plan and implement nursing work, and assess the effectiveness of treatment
• Become familiar with common diseases of children and adolescents, as well as their prevention, treatment and rehabilitation methods
• Knows the resuscitation and advanced life support of a child
• Knows the pharmacological grounds for the treatment of children, and can administer safe drug and fluid therapy for child patients

• Meeting and guiding a child and family
• Forms and methods of family nursing work
• Monitoring the growth and development of healthy children and young people, and deviations in development

• The most common children’s diseases, surgical problems, infectious diseases and long-term illnesses and their treatment, rehabilitation and recording of information
• Clinical examination of child patients and the use of various assessment methods to support clinical decision-making
