Objective

Students are aware of the impact of pre-analytical factors on the results of laboratory examinations when guiding clients for specimen collection, when collecting specimen and carrying out POC tests. Students know how to collect and handle different clinical specimen carefully and safely and know the proper measures for their storage and transport. Students are able to answer for the safety and well-being of the client during the specimen collection. Students are familiar with multi-cultural issues in the client work of social services and health care. They know how to act according to the guidelines, values and ethical principles of clinical laboratory work, and are able to make decisions which are ethically sound. Students know how to act in line with the principles of good service in client work and in collaboration with other professional groups. They are aware of the quality management procedures of the laboratory. Students deepen their knowledge of specimen collection and are aware of the possibility of point of care testing in clinical laboratory work. Students are familiar with the basic concepts of quality management in clinical laboratory work and know ways of implementing quality management in clinical laboratory work.

Student is familiar with the quality methods and standards that guide clinical laboratory operations and also knows the basics of laboratory's auditing and accreditation procedures. Student is able to maintain practical measures of quality assurance and is familiar of biomedical laboratory scientist’s role as part of it. Student is able to evaluate the factors affecting the reliability of the results at different stages of the laboratory work.

Exam schedules

Kirjallinen tentti lukujärjestykseen merkittynä tenttipäivänä .
Kirjalliseen tenttiin järjestetään kaksi uusintakoetilaisuutta, jotka pääsääntöistesti kaksi seuraavaa uusintakertaa ellei asiasta erikseen opiskelijan kanssa sovita.

Mikäli opiskelija ei läpäise koetta tai ei osallistu uusintaan kahden uusintakoetilaisuuden aikana, katsotaan uusintakerrat käytetyiksi ja opiskelija osallistuu uudelleen opintojaksolle seuraavan ryhmän mukana.

Teoriaopinnot

Pedagogiset toimintatavat pohjautuvat innovaatiopedagogiikan kulmakiviin. Opetuksella tuetaan opiskelijan aktiivista osallisuutta tiedonrakentajana ja ongelmanratkaisijana. Lähiopetuksessa opetuskeskustelua käydään erikokoisissa ryhmissä. Opettajan tehtävänä on valmentaa opiskelijoita työelämän tarpeita vastaavan osaamisen saavuttamisessa. Verkkopedagogiikkaa toteutetaan itsenäisillä ja tiimeissä toteuttavilla verkkotehtävillä, joissa opiskelija kehittää tiedon hankkimisen ja soveltamisen taitojaan. Opintojaksolla hyödynnetään englanninkielisiä oppi- ja oheismateriaaleja.

Laboraatioharjoitukset

Pedagogiset toimintatavat pohjautuvat innovaatiopedagogiikan kulmakiviin. Harjoitukset toteutuvat työelämää vastaavissa simulaatioympäristöissä, joissa opettaja, yhdessä opiskelijaohjaajien kanssa, valmentaa opiskelijoita työelämän tarpeita vastaavan osaamisen saavuttamisessa. Opetuksella tuetaan opiskelijan aktiivista osallisuutta ongelmanratkaisijana ja työskennellään erikokoisissa ryhmissä hankkien ja soveltaen alalla tarvittavaa tietoa.
