Content scheduling
The course introduces you to different materials and their processing methods when concretizing ideas.
The course explores the possibilities of using prototypes at different levels as a communication support, idea generation method and problem-solving tool.
Exercises are done independently and in meetings in the campus prototyping spaces.
Objective
Students are able to use different degrees of models and prototypes to illustrate planned solutions, test their functionality, communicate plans, and plan ahead. The student is able to choose materials and techniques suitable for prototyping with regard the stage of design process, the application, the feasibility, the costs and the timetables.
Content
The module consists of the following components:
- Prototyping methods
Materials
Witthoft, Scott, 2022: This is a Prototype? The Curious Craft of Building New Ideas
Terstiege, Gerrit, 2009: The Making of Design: From the First Model to the Final Product
Kettunen, Ilkka, 2001: Muodon palapeli

No exams
International connections
Learning is based on experimentation, sharing knowledge and expertise, and combining different perspectives.
Open AMK studies improve young people's and adults' working life-related skills as well as professional and technical competence. Indirectly, the course can promote the creation of decent jobs and entrepreneurship. Open AMK studies also reduce the number of young people who are not working or studying. In studies, we do not separate people according to age, gender, background, etc.
