Objective

After completing the course, the student is able to

- develop their Finnish language and communication skills as part of their professional skills
- act in communication and interaction situations in their own field
- take into account the recipient, situation and professional practices
- list the basics of writing factual text
- edit text from a variety of sources
- summarize and justify the matter to be made in writing
- identify and select a genre
- produce and write text suitable for different purposes
- use plain language

Content

Finnish language and communication studies focus on grammatical correctness, expert and work community communication, and document writing. The students practice the communication and interaction skills needed in working life.

Analysis, interpretation and writing of professional texts in one's own field, characteristics of factual style, speech communication situations in working life, assessment of one's own communication skills, giving and receiving feedback, factual style structure and word choices, argumentation and different factual text types.
