Contents:
BoostCamp event
PI- diagrams and their creation in the chemical industry
Laboratory work: safe working in the laboratory and implementation of the Design and Test project
Key theories of chemical engineering, where you get to know selected current topics: Topics 2024, Basic concepts of chemical processes, water and waste water technology, biogas technology and reactors. It is also possible to implement other subject areas depending on the year of implementation.
Process technology and its topics are also explored in the form of group work, the topics of which the student group can influence quite strongly (the topic is approved by the teacher).

Objective

Student recognizes the fields of industry within chemical engineering. She/he can describe typical production processes in chemical engineering (bio, materials and food technology). She/he regocnizes laboratory as operational environment and can operate safely in laboratory.

Teaching methods

Cad exercises (cad = computer aided design)
The design and test project is done in groups. It includes explanation and presentation of the theoretical background of the issues, work planning and practical implementation in the laboratory.
The course implements the make and try method, especially in cad design and laboratory work.
In group work, the group learns about the importance of the process for industry.

Exam schedules

Exam according to the schedule at the time shown
The last time to restore the PI diagram is the start of the exam in the ITS environment.
Retake exams (theory part) with EY technology retake dates according to EY technology guidelines

The last recovery moment of the PI chart is the last recovery moment. Assessment is not performed for late returns.
Laboratories cannot be renewed. In this regard, the failed partial performance must be retaken along with the next course.
BoostCamp is mandatory for everyone and the latest event is not organized. A replacement assignment for attendance has been given in 2023. (Minimum 10 pages text plus text formatting)

BoostCamp implements e.g. situational learning concept
Laboratories and theory lectures implement a constructive pedagogy approach, while experiential and cognitive learning is also included. Pedagogical methods take into account sustainable development as a presentation of BAT technology.

Completion alternatives

There is not alternative method to accomplish the course.
If necessary, the student will present the competence and prompting in accordance with Turkuamk guidelines

Further information

Primary. Communication is done in the class room. When absent, the student has the obligation to obtain the corresponding information that was presented in class.
Alternatively ITS channel is used.
Only in rare cases, Email is used, from lecturer to student. The student's message is best conveyed to the teacher during the lesson.
Other alternative messaging methods does not guarantee the information delivery to lecturer.
