Objective

The students will be able to
• recognize the technical and artistic aspects of the development of photography and place these within their historical context.
• name influential photographers and genres.
• apply traditions in photography in their own work.

Content

On this course, the students will gain basic knowledge about the starting points of photography and the development of photographic techniques and expression from the 19th century to the present. The students will be discussing the relationship between photography and society and other methods of image-making. Students will learn how to apply this knowledge in their own expression.
