Objective

After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- to analyse and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of wound care in one's own organisation and regional cooperation in the wound patient's treatment chain.
- use and evaluate wound care quality methods and prevent quality deviations.
- develops the quality of wound care and patient safety in their own and work unit's operations.
- examine the factors influencing the cost of wound care in patient care both at the unit and organizational level and is aware of the overall cost of care for a wound patient at regional and national level.

Content

Topics:

Evidence-based wound care; evidence-based action and evidence-gathering and evaluation, evidence degrees, systematic literature reviews and treatment recommendations prepared on the basis of them, taking evidence to patient care decision-making and treatment implementation e.g. SSKIN Care Bundle.

Quality management in wound care; quality indicators for clinical practice and their use in wound care assessment at organizational level, e.g. in intensive care patients, pressure wound incidence, wound healing/time. Patient safety and quality deviations (Haipro) in wound care.

The wound patient care chain and its regional functionality; Treatment chain descriptions SH circuits, introduction of treatment recommendations case examples (video clip), cost and effectiveness assessment of wound care, LEAN application in developing the quality of wound patient care. Wound Center EWMA criteria.
