Objective
Objectives
• Students will know the safety risks of an intensive care environment and how to use patient examination, monitoring and care instruments safely for the purpose of intensive care.
• Students will know how to assess an intensive care customer’s need for treatment and urgency and will be able to make independent decisions, while identifying their limits and using consultation for support
• Students will know how to actively participate in multiprofessional working groups according to ethical principles
• Students will know the special features of intensive care and the treatment and examination methods used
• Students will understand the special features of pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy of intensive care patients and will gain more in-depth understanding of the medical therapy of an intensive care patient
• Students will be able to acknowledge the needs of the people close to the patient in intensive care and support them using various applicable methods
• Will know how to apply the principles of sustainable development in their tasks

• Definition of intensive care and the competence of an intensive care nurse, multiprofessional working group, ICUnurse
• Observation and treatment of the circulatory system of an intensive care patient
• Observation and treatment of the respiration of an intensive care patient (ventilation patient care)
• Observation and treatment of the neurological condition of critically ill patients
• Observation and care of gastroenterological patients
• Observation and treatment of the kidneys of an intensive care patient
• Assessment, planning and provision of pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy and nutritional care for an intensive care patient
• The key effects, indications, contraindications, side and adverse effects of medication used in intensive care
• Basic treatment and rehabilitation of intensive care patients
• Paying attention to the special needs of and support for family members in the treatment of critically ill patients
• Ethics of intensive care nursing
