Objective

Objectives
• Students will understand the treatment path for surgical patients
• Become familiar with the overall treatment of a surgical patient and its various foundations, special features and ethical requirements regarding patients representing different demographic groups
• Become proficient in aseptic techniques and systematic work
• Learn to promote and ensure occupational and patient safety in the treatment of surgical patients
• Students will learn to plan, administer, monitor and evaluate safe and effective medication and fluid therapy for surgical patients
• Students will practise various assistance methods used in surgical nursing
• Know how to plan, carry out and assess the guidance and training of surgical patients in cooperation with other experts by applying a customer or group-oriented approach
• Know how to support the self-care of a surgical patient in postoperative treatment in a hospital environment and at home
• Know how to ensure the exchange of updated information during the different treatment phases of surgical patients
• Understand the meaning of life-long learning in the nursing of surgical patients
• Develop their personal professional skills
