Objective

CARE IN CRISIS AND EMERGENCY CONDITIONS 4 ETCS KRIPO

The course includes 2 ETCS of studies in English

Objectives
• is familiar with the principles of key preparedness and crisis legislation and the organisation of crisis operations in a health care unit and the role of a nurse in these situations.
• is able to independently begin necessary rescue measures immediately as well as operate in a crisis or catastrophe
• can communicate professionally in crises and exceptional situations.
• understands the crisis as part of normal human development and is able to define the needs for treating trauma.
• can identify the stages and interventions of a traumatic crisis as a method of assistance.
• recognises crises and their impacts and is able to guide clients using methods of nursing.
• knows the principles of crisis work, is able to encounter a client in an acute crisis and after.
• knows how to work in a multidisciplinary and networked manner.
• have the capability to encounter a person who has experienced an acute crisis.

• Definition of emergency conditions and crises
• Preparedness for emergencies and crises
• Acting in emergencies and crises
• Mental, physical and social support and encountering the patient
• Identifying a traumatic crisis and its stages
• Development crises
• PTSD

During the simulations:
• students practise managing crises and exceptional situations as well as nursing and encountering clients that have experienced crises.
• learn to work as professionals in multi-authority cooperation in crisis situations.

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

Knowledge: Does not demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the basic concepts and objectives according to the course.
Cannot justify or evaluate their own views and decisions. Does not make use of scientific knowledge.
Skills: Leaves assigned tasks undone. Does not know the key operating methods and does not justify their choices. Presents incorrect solutions to problems.
Attitudes: Does not receive or give feedback. Does not reflect or identify areas for development. Does not recognize the values and ethical principles of the industry. Does not take responsibility for his own part in the work of the group. Behaves unprofessionally. Does not recognize the effects of their own actions on sustainable development, economy or the promotion of well-being

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Knowledge: Can identify, name, and define individual phenomena and basic concepts related to the course. Utilizes professional knowledge.
Skills: Performs assigned tasks under supervision. They are familiar with different ways of working but are not able to justify their choices or apply what they have learned according to the situation.
Attitudes: Know how to receive and give feedback selectively. Examines and evaluates things from their own point of view. Identify values and ethical principles that are important to their own field. Takes responsibility only for his own part in teamwork. Recognizes their interaction skills. Identify what constitutes professional behavior. To a limited extent, identify the impacts of their own activities on sustainable development, economy, and well-being.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Knowledge: Outlines the relationships between phenomena and concepts related to the course. Can explain, compare, and structure things in relation to each other. In addition to professional knowledge, make use of some scientific knowledge.
Skills: Can independently choose the most suitable course of action from different options and tries to justify their choice. Can apply, draw up plans and define tasks. Solves problems.
Attitudes: Able to receive and give feedback actively and constructively. Examines and evaluates issues from both their own perspective and that of their immediate community. Has adopted the values and ethical principles of the industry and acts according to instructions. Can act responsibly and participates in the development of interaction and teamwork skills. Behaves professionally. Can describe and evaluate the impacts of their own actions on sustainable development, economy, and well-being.

Knowledge: Understands the broad entities of the course and the cause-effect relationships between them. Be able to analyze, apply and relate to a professional context. Can justify their actions with the help of scientific information.
Skills: Can search for and evaluate different operating methods and solution options. Can justify their choices and tries new ways of working. Can combine solutions creatively or create justified operating models.
Attitudes: Systematically uses feedback as a tool for professional growth and that of their community. Based on feedback, change their behavior. Can actively reflect on his/her own competence and the operating model of the community. Can flexibly apply the ethical principles of the field in different value conflict situations.
