Objective

After completing the study unit the student can:
- define the various theoretical frameworks on culture and cultural differences
- describe the challenges in managing and working in a multicultural environment
- interact and communicate with company representatives from different cultural backgrounds
- work in international business environment.

Materials

All material will be posted in its learning platform.

Teaching methods

Flipped learning - Student prepares by reading and preparing material for the contact sessions.
Some recorded lectures in its learning platform. Some videos to watch and reading to be done.
During contact sessions the studied aspects are deepened partly using Innopeda methods (activities), learning by doing, or discussed in groups.

Exam schedules

This course does not have an exam.

Content scheduling

This course meets with the teacher 4 times (3 hrs per session). The first session is on 31.3 and last one 28.4.
Each session requires advance preparation by students. Some recorded lectures in its learning platform. Some videos to watch and reading to be done.
Calendar week 17, there is no session. The last session 28.4. students present their findings on Doing Business in xx (chosen country).

Its learning platform for assigments and returning the assigments. Emails to teacher via Outlook e-mail.

Evaluation scale

H-5

Assessment methods and criteria

Each contact session is evaluated by teacher, self and peer, graded 1-5 (40% of the final grade)
Preparation tasks for the contact sessions are essays, videos, reading material etc.
60% of the grade is the Report (Doing Business in...) and its presentation in week 18.

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

1) No participation on any of the contact sessions
or
2) The Report is not returned, or not presented, or does not fulfil the given criteria.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Grade 1
Participation on only 1 contact session OR participation on contact sessions with poor preparation and minimum effort of activity during sessions.
and Report of Doing Business in xx (chosen country) and its presentation is evaluated with grade 1.

Grade 2 fulfills the requirements of grade 1, but not all requirements of grade 3.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Grade 3
Participation on 2 contact sessions with active participation and good preparation. It is apparent that the student has done reasearch, prepared the given material and participates presenting acuired knowledge.
And Report of Doing Business in xx (chosen country) and its presentation is evaluated with grade 2,5 or higher.

Grade 4 fulfills the requirements of grade 3, but not all requirements of grade 5.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Grade 5
Active participation on all sessions. Very well done preparation and analytical and critical participation on discussions, where analysis is based on theoretical know-how and prior research.

And Report of Doing Business in xx (chosen country) and its presentation is evaluated with grade 4,5 or higher.
