Objective

Nursing Care of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Patients:

Objectives

• Know how to determine the needs in nursing care of mental health/substance abuse patients in order to plan and administer care, and to evaluate its effectiveness
• Learn to interact with and help customers/patients of different ages, as well as their family members
• Become familiar with the methods used in mental health and substance abuse nursing, the nurse-patient relationship and the work pair approach, as well as learn to use supervision of work as a way to support professional development.
• Learn to analyse how their own values and attitudes influence their interaction with customers/patients of different ages and their professional interaction
• Understand the ethics of nursing and base their actions on current knowledge
• Increase their pharmacotherapy competence in mental health and substance abuse nursing (medication passport)
• Learn to document information about the treatment of mental health and substance abuse patients

Paediatric Nursing:

Objectives
• Know how to act in various social welfare and health care environments and support parenthood during pregnancy or after childbirth
• Know how to pay attention to the special characteristics of maternity nursing
• Know how to promote the sexual health of people of different ages
• Know how to apply the knowledge base of child, adolescent and family nursing when treating children of different ages in a family-oriented and health-promoting manner
• Know how to pay attention to the special characteristics of nursing children and adolescents
• Gain further proficiency in determining the need for child or adolescent nursing and the related processes of planning, implementation and evaluation while working in a multiprofessional team
• Know how to perform pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy of children and adolescents under supervision
• Know how to support and counsel children, adolescents and families in different matters concerning health and illness
• Learn to make decisions that require nursing expertise in cooperation with children, adolescents and families and other professional groups, as well as to support their resources to promote their health
• Understand the ethics and fundamental values of nursing and base their actions on current evidence-based knowledge of nursing of children and adolescents

• How to plan, perform and assess evidence-based mental health and substance abuse care and counselling and how to document the process
• Practising common methods of mental health and substance abuse care according to the learning environment and the needs of the patients/customers
• Practising the clinical examination of a patient and care-related, empowering interaction with patients/customers
• Different methods used in mental health and substance abuse nursing, the nurse-patient relationship and supervision of work
• The mental health and substance abuse care service system
• More profound skills in pharmacotherapy and mental health

• Development of parenthood and various modes of support in different operating environments of social welfare and health care
• Various counselling situations and methods during pregnancy and the postpartum period
• Bringing up the topic of sexuality
• Sexual education and the related methods
• Applying the knowledge base of nursing children and adolescents in nursing by paying attention to children of different ages, adolescents and their families
• Practising the nursing methods of supporting the growth and development of children and adolescents by paying attention to patient safety and the special characteristics of different patient groups
• Clinical examination and observation of child patients, applying examination and test results in the clinical decision-making process
• Applying evidence-based information in the nursing of children and adolescents and the development of nursing
• Prevention and treatment of common paediatric diseases and the related rehabilitation and assessment methods
• Oral and written communication
• Performing pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy on children and adolescents under supervision
• Applying health care technology in the nursing of children and adolescents
