Content scheduling
The contact days for the 2025 study course will be conducted as in-person instruction on campus on the following dates:
- September 26, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- November 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Otherwise, the study course will be based on learning assignments and written exam.

- Models of learning organizations as support for management
Objective
After competing the course, the student:
- understands the concepts and practices of knowledge-based management
- is able to search information from the social and healthcare data warehouses
- understands how knowledge-based management is integrated into organization´s strategy and objectives
- is able to apply the models of learning organization

Materials
As indicated in the Itslearning learning environment.
Teaching methods
Campus-based teaching, group assignments, study assignments and written exam. The course cannot be completed entirely independently without attending in-person instruction on campus.
Exam schedules
The written exam can be taken once, and the student has one opportunity to retake it. Exam dates will be announced in the Itslearning learning environment.
Pedagogic approaches and sustainable development
Students study alongside their work, using problem-based learning and applying theory to practice. This study course includes in-person instruction, small group work, and independent study.
Campus-based teaching focuses on the key theories of the study course, with discussions and experience sharing on the topics covered.
Group assignments emphasizes self-direction, peer learning, and dialogic interaction. Individual assignments involve engaging with the course literature, practicing information retrieval and refinement, and presenting structured arguments.
The written exam assesses the ability to integrate and apply a diverse and in-depth theoretical understanding of the study course's subject matter.
Sustainability is discussed during the class, and students are encouraged to include both theory-based and practice-based reflections on sustainable, knowledge-based management and leadership.
Completion alternatives
Campus-based teaching day may be missed once with prior notice. Any additional absence must be compensated with an equivalent supplementary study assignment, which the teacher will announce after each on-campus learning day.
Student workload
Campus-based teaching: lectures and hands-on activities (16 hours) and independent study: study assignments and a written exam (119 hours). Total: 135 hours (5 ECTS credits)
Evaluation methods and criteria
Assessment focuses on learning tasks completed during the study course, the written exam, and active participation in the activities during campus-based teaching. By enrolling in the course, you agree to comply with the current rules on cheating on study tasks and plagiarism as well as the guidelines provided on the use of artificial intelligence of Turku University of Applied Sciences. The possible use of artificial intelligence varies by learning task. Guidance on its use is provided for each task during the course.
Failed (0)
Failed: Has not completed all tasks, participated in the second campus-based teaching day, or completed compensatory study assignments. Submitted tasks do not address the majority of the requirements specified in the assignment instructions. Failed the written exam: 0-47%
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
Satisfactory: Has completed all tasks and participated in campus-based teaching. Demonstrates a general understanding of the study course content in the learning tasks. In the written exam: S1 > 48% and S2 > 60%.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
Good: Has completed all tasks on time and actively participated in campus-based teaching. Demonstrates a good understanding of the study course content in the learning tasks and is able to apply what has been learned. In the written exam: G3 > 72% and G4 > 84%.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Excellent: Has completed all tasks on time and actively participated in campus-based teaching. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding and application of the study course content in the learning assignments. In the written exam: E5 > 95%.
