Objective
After a completed course the student
- can specify product requirements and the principles of materials selection
- can establish alternatives for the material of a product and produce strength calculations
- knows the strength properties of metal materials and the technical requirements for manufacturing
- can compare the use of steel and aluminium alloys by calculation
- knows commonly used plastic materials and some of the physical and technical properties thereof
in the development of a plastic product or in designing a plastic component, is capable of take into account the properties of plastic materials and the manufacturing techniques required.
Content
- materials property profiles and requirement profile for product
- high-strength steels
- aluminium alloys and their use
- lightening of a structure
- properties and testing standards for plastic materials
exploitation of plastics.
