Objective
The student knows the refining methods of crude oil as well as the properties, requirements and classifications of motoring gasoline, diesel fuel and lubricants. He or she is able to describe the possibilities of alternative fuels in order to lower the greenhouse impact of fuel combustion. He or she is capable of utilizing his or her knowledge about lubrication mechanisms and selection of correct lubricants for the purpose in question.
Content
Fuels part:- manufacturing of gasoline- requirements and classification methods for gasolines- low emission gasolines, gasoline of the future- diesel fuel properties and requirements (especially in cold climate)- environmental properties of diesel fuels, diesel of the future- diesel fuel injection systems- alternative motor fuels
Lubrication part:- functions of lubricants, lubrication mechanisms- manufacturing of lubricants- properties and parameters of lubricants- synthetic lubricants, lubricant additives- classification methods of lubricants- hydraulic oils and lubrication greases- determining lubrication change intervals
