Objective

In the end of the course student has learnt ship main machineries and their purpose of use. Student is skilful enough to dimension and select cargo ship propulsion machinery main components on basic level. Student has an understanding of engine room layout and machinery specific regulation.

Content

The tasks of different ship machineries are studied.
During the studies cargo ship engine room general arrangement is educated and excursion to existing ship is arranged. Students design engine room layout for their reference ship. Shaft line drawing for the same ship will be created and components selected. The design work and calculations will be reported.
Latest machinery development trends future machinery regulation are discussed.
