Objective

The student can collect clinical specimens and knows the appropriate equipment for specimen collection. The student knows the right procedure for specimen handling and storing. Students are familiar with high quality and safe methods of collecting and handling of different clinical specimens. Students know methods of point of care testing and know how to examine a urine sample.

Content

The student is aware of the significance of pre-analytic factors to the reliability of the specimen. Students rehearse collection of clinical specimens.Student identifies the purpose of various measuring devices and adopts the meticulous way of working presupposed by clinical laboratory work. Student knows how to use, calibrate and maintain different measuring devices correctly. Student knows how to prepare reagents and rehearse the skills in using the centrifuge and a photometer.
