Objective

Surgical patient nursing 1 cr KIHOHObjectives:The student shall- practise key examination and treatment procedures in surgical patient care, the correct and safe use of the required instruments and equipment and how to utilise examination results in care and monitoring of care.- be able to individually monitor, plan, implement and evaluate the treatment of a surgical patient before and after a procedure- be able to guide a patient before and after a surgical procedure.- be able to master aseptic and systematic working- practise key examination and treatment procedures in perioperative patient care, the correct and safe use of the required instruments and equipment and how to utilise examination results in care and monitoring of care.- be able to observe the patient and individually plan, implement and evaluate the treatment of a patient arriving for an examination or procedure.- be able to perform the required preparations for a patient's intraoperative care.- be able to guide the patient during the different stages of perioperative care.- be able to understand a nurse's different responsibilities in the care process of a perioperative patient- be able to apply asepsis in an procedural environment- be able to document the needs of treatment of a client/patient, plan and implement treatment and assess its effectiveness.- practise nursing of a mental health and drug and alcohol abuse patient using case studies and with the help of experts-by-experience- practise facing an aggressive patient
