Objective
The aim of the course is to learn about the socio-political background and structures of rehabilitation. You know the purpose of the welfare state and understand its practical significance. You will know the concepts of welfare and the role of social welfare in the context of the welfare system. Content
The main focus of the course is on the role of social policy, social policy, economic policy and social work in the welfare state. It also looks at the diversity and inequality of people's life situations, the prevention of poverty and exclusion, and inclusion and empowerment.

Teaching methods
The entire course will be implemented as non-stop online studies during the autumn semester 2025. You can study according to your own schedule. You will guide your own work and reserve enough time for each sub-module. Studying takes place by familiarizing oneself with various text, audio and video materials and using them to complete learning assignments. You can return to the learning materials and other content at any point in the study module. During the course, you will learn about the role of social policy, social policy, economic policy and social work in the welfare state. The course will introduce you to the concepts and phenomena related to differences in people's life situations, inequalities, poverty and social exclusion prevention and participation. During the course, you will also apply information based on societal starting points to rehabilitation and counselling. In self-reflection, you reflect on your own learning and work during the course in relation to the personal learning goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the course.

Student workload
Familiarisation with the course content and the Moodle workspace, 4 hours. Setting and assessing personal learning outcomes, 2 hours. Studying lecture recordings, 21 hours. Familiarisation with learning materials and literature, 40 hours. Completing learning assignments in the Moodle workspace, 68 hours. A total of 135 hours.
