The course topics are: Security crises natural disasters other crises and disasters risk management recovery and communication dark tourism After each topic there is a quiz to assess your learning.
Objective
Knowing the concepts of safety and security in tourism and having a holistic, global approach to their dimensions. Analyzing safety and security as core attributes of service quality and the tourism industries and destinations’ competitiveness at the international level. Understanding the meaning of risk management and preventive safety work in customer encounters. Identifying the role of cooperative networks and tourism-oriented policing and protection services in the advancement of international tourism destination safety and security.

Location and time
The course is a non-stop: students can choose the starting time and pace of the course. The course can be started at any time between 1st of September 2025 and 26th of November. The course teacher will admit new students starting from 1st of September 2025. After that, the students will be accepted on a weekly basis.

Teaching methods
The course is a self-paced online course. The course is divided into topics, allowing students to learn in manageable pieces. Please read the text below carefully before enrollment. You will only be admitted to the course after the teacher's approval. The teacher does not accept new students on a daily basis (acceptance at least once a week).

Student workload
5 ECTS equals to 135h of student's work. This includes studying the Moodle materials, independent study work and assignments.
Evaluation methods and criteria
After each topic student performs a quiz, which can be taken once. With the completion of the quizzes, student is able to get enough points (max 69) to get a grade of 2. Student can then decide to pursue grades 3-5, by submitting written additional according to the instructions. Student needs 50 points from the quizzes in order to pass the course. From the video assignment the student can get 0-21 points. From the tourism recovery in Ukraine analyses the student can get 0-10 points. Grade 1: 50p-59p Grade 2: 60p-69p Grade 3: 70p-79p Grade 4: 80p-89p Grade 5: 90p-100p Grades 1-2 can be achieved through quizzes, which are mandatory on this course. Grades 3-5 acquire written assignment(s) in addition to the quizzes. These written assignments are voluntary. Student must get at least 50 points from the quizzes in order to submit the written assignments.
