Objective

By the end of the course participants will: - become familiar with the basic theories of experience design practices, art production practices (composition, perspective, color scheme, light, texture, balancing, character design etc.) - become familiar with the variety of material, visual and written sources, available to support the research on this subject matter (including technical aspects of game assets performance optimization) - become aware of the current practices in creating interactive experience design, digital art production and what practices are present in game development processes (2D and 3D environments, characters and animation, observational drawing, digital motion capture, image production and manipulation) - technical art – what does it mean to be technical artist? - present work orally and in written form (through workshop practice and given assignments)

Besides the lectures, we have group work and home exercises in English.

Content

The course is designed to give a wide perspective of terms and practices in digital art and visual communication though interactive mediums. It will present multidisciplinary and cross-media framework of the study engaged by various cases from IT and game development practices. The historical framework of art practices will be addresses widely, following the principles of conventional art theory and analysis for pursuing developing practices in contemporary mediums of expression and storytelling, such as interactive digital mediums and video games. The agenda of the course is planned to provide an extensive insight into the present practices of digital art creation (2D and 3D, UI/UX design and animation).
