Objective

In the theory part of the course, you get familiar with the basic theory of electricity and electromagnetic radiation in the area of optics and radiation. In the laboratory section, on the other hand, physical measurements and safe working in laboratory conditions are practiced, as well as analysis of measurement results.

After completing the course, the student
• understand the theoretical foundations of electrical physics and can analyze direct current circuits.
• can apply his knowledge of physics to plan measurement arrangements for the analysis of technical problems and perform the measurements.
• understand the uncertainty of measurement results and error sources, and know how to determine reliability limits for values calculated based on measurement results
• understand how measurement results are presented graphically and can analyze graphical representations.
• can analyze measurement results using a spreadsheet program
• understands the principles of keeping a measurement protocol and knows how to report the results orally and in writing.
• understand the principles of safe laboratory work and know how to apply them in planning their own work.
• understand the differences between types of radioactive radiation and know how to handle radiation sources safely.
• knows laboratory waste handling methods.
