Objective

The student knows the basics of soil classification and is able to determine the soil type and the name. The student knows how Finnish bedrock is formed, and identify the most common rock types and minerals. The student knows the most important factors and phenomena related to the dimensioning of earth structures, bearing capacity, frost in the ground, settlements and land slides. He knows the main soil investigations methods and laboratory tests. The student can estimate the frost heaving, settlements and load-bearing properties of different types of soils.

Content

Student will learn the background for the formation of Finnish soil and bedrock and typical soil layers. The classification of soil types will be practiced, and the student will learn the typica soil survey marking methods in the drawings. Student will practice the main factors which will affect to the stability, bearing capacity, settlement and earth pressure with the help of simple calculations. During the course, a geotechnical presentation will be given.

Opiskelija osaa liike- ja teollisuusrakenteiden rakenteita, rakennusosia ja ymmärtää rakenteille asetettavat vaatimukset. Objective

Objective

The student is familiar with the materials and products used in load-bearing timber structures. They can design common structural components such as straight beams and columns. The student is knowledgeable about typical connections used in timber structures and can dimension simple nail connections.

Objective

The student is able to act in a purposeful way in communicating and interacting in working life situations. He/she is able to take into consideration the receiver, the situation and the demands of the field and to communicate in an analytical, understandable and convincing manner.
The student is able and willing to develop his/her skills in the Finnish language and communication as part of his/her professional competence.

Content

Students know how to
-interpret the professional texts in their own field as part of information literacy skills and use their skills in new, different situations (for instance, text analysis and summary)
-write factual, consistent and understandable texts (for instance, small scale studies, reports, essays, professional presentations using source material) and to give references to sources according to given instructions (the basics of research communication)
-use up-to-date tools as support for their own linguistic ability in proof-reading (central contents in correcting language and text)
-act in a professional way in the verbal communication situations in working life, and to prepare for diverse speaking situations in a purposeful way (i.e. with the help of situation analysis and analysis plan)
-express themselves clearly using visual aids and by using language appropriate to the situation
-assess their own communication skills (the language and structure of spoken and written language, factors affecting readability and understandability, the effectiveness of the message)and to give and receive constructive criticism

Objective

Rakennusalan työnjohdon koulutusohjelma
Opiskelija tietää betonin ja betoniteräksen ominaisuudet. Hän tuntee tavallisimpien teräsbetonirakenteiden toimintatavan ja raudoituksen suunnittelun perusteet. Opiskelija osaa käyttää alustavaan mitoitukseen mitoitustaulukkoja, ja mitoittaa yksinkertaisia rakenteita.
Opiskelija tietää yleisesti liittorakenteella ymmärrettävää teräsrakenteiden tai ohutlevyrakenteiden ja betonin tai teräsbetonin yhdistelmiä. Hän tietää palo- ja käyttöikämitoituksen perusteet.
Opiskelija tietää tavallisimpia betonirakenteiden vaurioita. Hän tietää teräsbetonirakenteiden kuntotutkimusmenetelmiä ja korjaus- sekä vahvistusmenetelmiä. Hän tietää kuntotutkimukseen käytettävien yleisimpien laitteiden käyttöä. Opiskelija tietää teräsrakenteiden korjaus- sekä vahvistusmenetelmiä. Hän tietää rakenteisiin käytettäviä materiaaleja ja tuotteita.

Objective

The Occupational Safety I course (3 ECTS) includes issues related to occupational safety and legislation in the construction industry, as well as Occupational Safety Card training (fee).
After completing the course, the student

- understand the importance of occupational safety in the construction industry
- demonstrates with her/his behavior and choices that she/he understands the importance of occupational safety
- know the key principles of occupational safety legislation and the provisions of occupational health legislation
concerning the construction site
- knows how to apply occupational safety legislation and guidelines in her/his own work and workplace
- know the purpose and practical implementation of occupational health and safety on the job site
- understand the importance of identifying risks and hazards in the construction industry
- knows how to carry out an occupational safety inspection or measurement at the workplace.

Content

The purpose of the course is to introduce the student to occupational safety and occupational safety legislation.
