Student workload
The scope of the written section of the thesis varies from 10 to 20 study weeks, depending on whether the thesis also includes a functional/ artistic/ pedagogic section or not.
Content scheduling
MUSIC:
The student demonstrates in the written part of the thesis, his/her ability to describe in writing the objective vision based on source material and his/her own thinking concerning a research or development project or artistic or pedagogical project of his/her choice, and to justify his/her views and assess; to reflect his/her own work and output.
The written part of the thesis is a report/output of the student's research and/or development work, which always contains a written portion regardless of the type of thesis or method of execution. The written part of the thesis includes the goals set by the student, the handling of the subject, working methods, results and conclusions. The written part has also to contain the arguments made and the student's own assessment of the achievement of the objectives and the applicability and utilization of the results.

Assessment methods and criteria
The items of the thesis are included in to the areas to be evaluated, which are:
• knowledge and skills in your field and the ability to understand and evaluate them
• competence in research and development activities
• self-improvement competence
• organizational and collaborative competence
• ethical competence
The evaluation takes into account the work during the thesis process, the results obtained in the thesis and the thesis report. The evaluation is directed at:

(the delineation of the subject and the research or development question/task,

• knowledge base and thinking in the thesis
• recoverability of results
• the ability to work in networks and collaborate
• reliability
• responsibility and criticality

The thesis has not been selected (working) methods partially suitable for the task and objectives.
The results of the thesis do not respond to the (development) task and the need underlying it.
The data sources, knowledge base and concepts relevant to the research and/or development task have not been utilized in the thesis.
No sources of information have been used and noted in the thesis.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
Methods (working) partially suitable for the task and objectives have been selected for the thesis.
The results of the thesis respond, but only in part to the (development) task and the need underlying it.
The thesis has made use of information sources relevant to the research and/or development task, the knowledge base and concepts in one's field albeit narrowly.
Sources of information have been used and marked in the thesis, but it has shortcomings.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
Methods (working) partially suitable for the task and objectives have been selected for the thesis.
The results of the thesis respond, but only in part to the (development) task and the need underlying it.
The thesis has made use of information sources relevant to the research and/or development task, the knowledge base and concepts in one's field albeit narrowly.
Sources of information have used and marked in the thesis, but it has shortcomings.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
New content, knowledge and/or practices in the field in cooperation with others have been produced in the thesis.
The development task has been critically and justifiably applied to the sector's fresh knowledge base, concepts, new and advanced working methods, and their use appropriately described.
Information sources have been critically, justifiably and creatively selected. Sources have been used and marked carefully, in accordance with research etiquette and good scientific practice.
