1. Course introduction: Course structure & content, schedule, briefing of reading circle.

Objective

Having completed the course, the student is able to
- develop profitable and innovative solutions with the customers
- apply product and service differentiation as a competitive edge
- apply the product development process models in practice.

Objects for assessment:
-individual book reflection and peer evaluation, pass/fail
-group work presentation and report as well as the student´s activity during the lessons and in the group work will be graded as one entity on scale 0-5.

The student has not reflected on his/her readings,
or he/she has not participated in the group work or written a report. The student has shown minimal activity in the course.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student:
- recognizes the role of product development in business operations
- indentifies product development processes
- understands the role of management of a product development project
-shows activity in the team work

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student is able to implement the previous points as well as the following:
- apply the product development process models in practice
- can develop profitable and innovative solutions according to the markets
-interacts actively with the customer in developing the product
-shows great teamwork skills and activity in the team

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to implement the previous points as well as the following:
-manages to sell and report the outcomes of the product development project succesfully
