Objective

After completing the course, the student is able to:
· understand the fundamental role that the population’s health and well-being and the underlying factors play in health promotion
· become familiar with regional, national and international research and development programmes for health promotion and the regulations governing them
· master the concepts, knowledge and fundamental values required for health promotion expertise and become familiar with the ethical foundation and fundamental values of health promotion
· learn to apply basic health promotion knowledge in their activities analyze and appraise studies describing the population’s health and well-being, as well as other current information in the context of health promotion development

Content

· Fundamental values and knowledge of health promotion
· Salutogenesis, health literacy and its support, self-care
· International and national programmes and strategies
· Life-cycle approach, environmental health, cultural well-being, literacy of population
· Assessment of the population’s health and well-being
· Structures of health promotion (changing operating environments and regulations, social welfare and health care reform)
· The future of health promotion and related development challenges
