Content scheduling
The study module is implemented in English.
Much of the work will be done in groups and consists of contact sessions, group work, workshops and reporting. Assessment based on exam and activity.
Business Planning:
- From Business Idea to business plan
- operational environment (taxation, industry specific regulation, entrepreneurship)
- Business Model
- markets: customer segments, competition
- financial management: costs, revenues, pricing, budgeting, financing
Marketing Planning
- customers - customer groups, customer profiles, needs
- marketing plan (digital and traditional)
Objective
The student can describe the requirements for a successful business. The student can communicate goals of a business to various interest groups of a business. The student is able to establish a marketing plan to reach customers. The student can describe a business idea.

The student has right to three exams. Those exam dates are:

CDIO, Peer Learning.
Business Idea development to concept (Conceive and Develop part of the CDIO framework of Engineering Education Initiative).
Sustainability: one question that needs to be included in business idea development.

Assignments (both spoken and written tasks) include different forms of reporting.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Exam 75%
Business plan 25%
Active participation in group work and lectures (pass/fail). In order to pass the course the student needs to be present at least 50 % of the lectures and 75 % of the individual assignments must be return to its learning by the due date. There is 4 individual assignments: Essay on marketing, 10 business ideas, customer segments, megatrends. The individual assignments are part of the group work (getting ready for the group session by retrieving data) and will not be assessed separately.
The student has not been active in group work and has not been present in the lectures. There are fundamental flaws in know-how, activity and deliverables.
24.4 final business and marketing plan - Power Point presentation and word document.

The whole course will be failed if
the exam is failed or
the group work is failed (if the student does not participate in group work or is not present in lectures - the individual will fail the the group work. Those who have actively contributed to the group work, will be graded).
If the group has not been able to produce a marketing and business plan including the required content by the due dates, students will fail the group work.
The student has not been active in group work and has not been present in the lectures. There are fundamental flaws in know-how, activity and deliverables.
COPYING/cheating in exam is not allowed and will result in rejection of the course and possibly other sanctions. Use of Artificial Intelligence is not allowed.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
Grade of the exam (75%).
The group is able to use business terms and basic theories when she/he is explaining his/her findings and observations. Can describe, classify and list. Outcome is descriptive, but does not include any reflection or insight (25%).
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
Grade of the exam (75%).
The group understands the big picture and relationships and describes it using theory. Shows ability to apply some basic principles and is able to make combinations. Uses acquired materials (25%).
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Grade of the exam (75%).
The group is able to see and explain critical success factors of a company and an industry. Understands theory and can explain findings with theory. Can find areas of development and demonstrates ability to think critically. Can analyze causal relations with insights (25%)
