1. Introduction and initial assessment (1 cr)
What is technology from the point of view of a music pedagogue
•A small history: a musical instrument is a technological device
•Digitalization and the work of a music pedagogue
•Prospect for the future (hybrid work, AI, what else will be seen in the future now)
•A video presentation of a student, answers to questions about the student's needs when it comes to utilizing technology
•Questionnaire: students self-assess their competence in different areas
2. Digital Sheet Music (2 cr)

3. Music pedagogue's workstation supporting one's own instrument study and teaching work (2 cr)
•What is a music pedagogue's workstation
•Pedagogical Practices and Introduction to Video-Based Learning
•Basics of video recording (includes audio recording)
•Using a Multi-Camera to Support Teaching
•Device and application expertise (Zoom, Teams, OBS, mobile applications)
•Knowledge can be demonstrated through a display task or portfolio
•Those who wish can participate in demonstrations and a workshop
Objective
After completing the course, the student
- knows what music technology means in terms of the work of a music pedagogue
- is able to utilize music technology in her teaching and artistic work
- knows the basics of recording and editing digital audio and video to the extent required by her profession
- masters the principle of streaming and knows how to make a streaming broadcast
- can define and deploy a workstation (AV and IT hardware and software) for artistic work and remote teaching for a music pedagogue.
- can set up and use a combination of software suitable for teaching
- understands the impact how different ways to distribute music effects the quality of sound and auditory image.
Content
Student is able to digitally record and edit audio and video and make appropriate settings for instrument for recording and online meeting software. Be able to define the pedagogically justified set of equipment needed.
The student understands the impact of different distributions of music on the quality and auditory image of the recording. The student is able to use and combine with the web meeting application the software needed for teaching.

Student workload
The course is divided into three modules with which to acquire and demonstrate competence is defined in the course content. The scope of the course is 5 ECTS, which corresponds to approximately 135 hours of work.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Approved
- The student demonstrates his/her competence in the management of course contents with display assignments or a portfolio at a level approved by the responsible teacher.
Failed
- The student does not master the required competencies at an adequate level.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Demonstrating competence:
- Using digital sheet music (music writing software app and digital score app)
- Definition and basic use of a music pedagogue's workstation
- Basic knowledge of pedagogical methods (video-based learning, multi-camera teaching)
- Demonstrating competence through display tasks or portfolio
