The student is responsible for his own thesis. The thesis is the student's independent output, but the student receives support for its creation and process from the supervisor appointed to the student. The thesis advisor offers individual and/or group guidance as agreed.

Social sustainability: Studies improve young people's and adults' working life-related skills as well as professional and technical competence. Indirectly, the course can promote the creation of decent jobs and entrepreneurship. In our studies, we do not differentiate people based on age, gender, background, etc., which promotes equality, justice and people's well-being in society.
Ecological sustainability: The sustainable use of the environment and resources must also be taken into account in all development and innovation work.

Practical implementation of the thesis work
The thesis can be done individually or in pairs. The thesis must be such that it can be demonstrated that one has mastered the key development, research or innovation methods of one's field. In the thesis, the development of one's own competence is also observed and evaluated.
The result of the thesis can be, for example, a new service, product, operating method, method or work practice. It can also be a compilation of previous works related to the topic.
The process and results of the thesis can be reported in different ways: a research or operational report, a learning diary or a portfolio. You can get support from the thesis supervisor in choosing the format and reporting method of the thesis.

Assessment methods and criteria
The thesis serves as the evaluated subject of the course.
The general guidance and tasks of the thesis are assessed as passed - failed. The assignments (analysis of the chosen thesis) must have been completed with approval.
Attendance at lectures must be 50%.
The student must follow five presentations of the thesis in the thesis seminar.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
1. Knowledge and skills in one's own field and their application to the thesis
• Methods that are partly suitable for the task and objectives have been selected and used for the thesis.
• The thesis utilises sources of information relevant to the research and/or development task, the knowledge-base and operating methods of the student's own field, although to a limited extent.
• The thesis has used and marked information sources, but there are shortcomings.
2. Implementation and outputs of the thesis as part of research and/or development work
• The topic, research and/or development task and/or question has been presented, although there are shortcomings in the presentation method.
• An action plan has been presented during the preparation phase.
• The implementation of the thesis is only responsible for the most important specified objectives and/or development tasks and/or questions.
• There has been a considerable need for guidance and/or guidance and/or other feedback in the work process.
• The results of the thesis only partially respond to the (development) task and the underlying need.
• The completion of the thesis has lasted longer than planned.
