Objective
Objectives
• Students will learn the physiological basics of intravenous medication, fluid therapy and nutritional care
• Students will learn the responsibilities and roles of nurses as medication administrators at the different phases of intravenous fluid therapy, medication and nutritional care
• Students will be able to identify the need for fluid therapy and parenteral nutrition and plan, perform and evaluate their safe administration
• Students will be able to use reliable pharmacotherapy databases in the planning, provision and evaluation of intravenous pharmacotherapy, fluid therapy and nutritional care
• Students will know how to prepare and dose intravenous medications and how to make the required dose calculations according to the physician’s instructions
• Students will understand the indications for using venous catheters and the operating principle and maintenance of venous catheters and know how to perform intravenous pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy in an aseptic and safe manner
• Students will learn to monitor patients and evaluate the effects and effectiveness of intravenous pharmacotherapy
• Students will know the basics of blood transfusion and how to perform a blood transfusion
