Materials
To be defined together with the supervising teacher. Its Learning Environment is not used in this course.
Teaching methods
Explorative learning, following a scientific research approach. The aim is to understand the phenomena under study or to solve complex problems. New knowledge is built socially in a group, but also individually according to an agreed division of tasks. The knowledge acquired is analysed and critically discussed in group meetings. Learning takes place in a spiral process of focusing on and exploring a topic in increasing depth. As the work progresses, the topic is further refined through new questions (research problems). The best learning results are achieved by working with authentic real-life research problems.

International connections
Innovation pedagogy, i.e. constructivist and problem-based learning by doing and applying, is at the core of the entire (master's level) education at Turku University of Applied Sciences. Master's level students study alongside work and seek to broaden and deepen their theoretical knowledge. They also aim to gain models for applying theory in their own work. The course includes group meetings, independent study, homework and written assignments.

Student workload
Once you have registered for the course, email the teacher to agree on the timetable and assignments. The assignment can be i.e. literature review, questionnaire/analysis etc. The scope and extent of the assignment depends on the group size (5 ECTS requires approximately 135 hours of students work).
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Failed: The goals have not been achieved within the given timeframe, the tasks have not been done in a satisfactory manner and/or the quality of reporting is poor.
Passed: Achieving the goals within the given timeframe, completing assignments in a satisfactory manner and good quality of reporting.
Content scheduling
Course content, which allows the themes of project applications and projects to be mapped out as student work, yet student-centered. The course theme is optional. Topical themes may include, for example:

Assessment methods and criteria
The tasks are in the focus of the assessment. The assessment is continuous, but the final assessment on the scale of pass/fail is provided at the end of the course. Oral/written evaluation feedback will be given.
Assessment criteria, fail (0)
The agreed assignments have not been returned by the deadline. Assignments returned are too simplified / do not correspond to the assignment / plagiarisms is evident.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The agreed assignments have been returned by the deadline. In the learning assignments, student demonstrates a superficial knowledge of the course content. There is no evidence of plagiarism.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The agreed assignments have been returned by the deadline. In the learning assignments, student demonstrates a good knowledge of the course content, including the ability to apply what has been learned. There is no evidence of plagiarism.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The agreed assignments have been completed by the deadline. Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the course content and the ability to apply it. There is no evidence of plagiarism.
