Objective

The aim of the course is to activate and develop the students’ field-relevant English language and communication skills. The students will gain professional skills in various spoken and written communicative situations encountered in working life and society. In addition, they will learn to utilize tools and techniques to further develop their skills in authentic, field-specific contexts. More specifically, students will focus on developing their language and communication skills in.
Upon completing the course, the students should have acquired skills to communicate at level B2 according to European Framework of Reference for Languages, which states that at B2-level students should be able to produce clear, coherent and well-structured texts, present detailed descriptions related to one’s field of interest, express and exchange opinions using fluent language, follow complex arguments, and read longer articles and reports.

Content scheduling

The student draws up a plan for his thesis. The student formulates a key investigative question and justifies own arguments both verbally and in writing. The student presents their research idea or an idea of a functional or artistic or pedagogic project in seminars and acts as an opponent of the research idea/ plan and text of fellow students. Students complete an online course in information retrieval. The student works on the thesis and presents its progress and the final thesis in seminars.

Objective

Students are able to identify the risk factors associated with the circus, to reduce the risk of accidents, and act correctly in accident situations. Students can use the circus safety vocabulary and recognize the circus equipment, as well as their means of fixation. In addition, students will be able to rig a circus equipments in school´s rehearsal spaces and apply their rigging skills to other areas. Students also know the laws and regulations relating to safety and is able to do circus safety plans. In addition, students will be able to maintain a circus equipment.

Content

The safety and riggings course is to build a safe and skillbase workout for training and growth to circus professional career. Studying includes lectures, workshops, exercises and exam.

Content

Opiskelija suunnittelee ja toteuttaa sirkusopetusta eri-ikäisille ja tasoisille sirkusoppilaille. Harjoittelu jakautuu orientoivaan harjoitteluun, perusharjoitteluun ja syventävään harjoitteluun. Orientoiva harjoittelu ja perusharjoittelu tapahtuvat Taideakatemian sirkuksen opetusharjoittelukoulussa sirkuksen palvelutoimintana. Orientoivassa harjoittelussa opiskelija toimii sirkusammattilaisopettajan assistenttina ja perusharjoittelussa parin kanssa ohjaajatiiminä ohjaavan opettajan tutoroinnissa. Syventävä harjoittelu tapahtuu sirkuskouluissa sirkustaiteen perusopetusta antavissa oppilaitoksissa.Syventävässä harjoittelussa opiskelija toimii sirkusopetuksesta vastaavana ohjaajana.

Students are able to identify the risk factors associated with the circus, to reduce the risk of accidents, and act correctly in accident situations. Students can use the circus safety vocabulary and recognize the circus equipment, as well as their means of fixation. Sirkuksen tekniikkaopintojen rinnalle rakentuva opintokokonaisuus, mikä kehittää sirkusopiskelijoiden kasvua luovuuteen sekä pedagogiseen ajatteluun ja kyvykkyyteen.
Jaksolla opiskellaan eri sirkuslajien terminologiaa ja metodiikkaa eri näkökulmista. Opiskelija pystyy soveltamaan oppimaansa sirkuksen perusopetuksen yleiseen ja laajaan oppimäärään. Jaksolla opitaan luomaan ja analysoimaan sirkuksen liikemateriaalia eri ikäisille ja –tasoisille oppilaille.
Jakso koostuu teorian ja käytännön luennoista, harjoituksista, harjoitustöistä ja tentistä.

The course focuses on the development of the circus disciplines technical skills, a student's personal talent and physical potential and creativity and personal expression. Studies are progressing according to the personal curriculum for each student to be drawn up. Students learn to practice independently and listening to their bodies. The course is to build the student's technical and artistic capability of a circus artist together with other circus technique studies. The student selects 1-2 circus disciplines and studies these techniques intensively from 2nd nd year to 4th year. Studies are carried out in small-group teaching, they include practical exercises, assignments and demonstrations.

The course is to build physical skills to set up circus artist together with the other circus technique studies. Aim of the module is the development of the physical potential of the student in balancing skills.
